NEW DELHI: Equity markets bounced back strongly on Friday as Sensex and Nifty gained 0.75 per cent each to regain key psychological marks.
30-share BSE Sensex gained 284.32 points to close at 37,947.88 while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty finished at 11,470.75, up 85.70 points. In intra-day trade, the BSE index managed to regain the 38,000-mark, hitting the intra-day high of 38,022.
The markets regained steam on back of favourable global cues. Investor sentiments were boosted as Asian peers US and China’s decision to hold trade talks next week.
All sectoral sub-indices finished in the green, with the Nifty PSU Bank gaining more than 3 per cent. FMCG and metal baskets also gained nearly 2 per cent each.
Yes Bank, SBI and Vedanta stocks surged the most, gaining more than 3 per cent.
