NEW DELHI: Equity markets on Friday once again gave proof of its strong fundamentals, as Sensex and Nifty were gaining more than half a per cent each in morning trade.
30-share BSE Sesnex gained 235 points to open at 37,898.60 while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty opened just under the 11,400-mark. Both the indices extended their gains with Sensex and Nifty going past the key marks of 37,900 and 11,400, respectively.
Asian shares won a modest reprieve on Friday after China and the United States agreed to hold their first trade talks since June next week and as the Turkish lira extended gains from its record low earlier this week.
On Friday, all the sectoral sub-indices were in the green with Nifty Metal rallying the most at 1.50 per cent. FMCG and PSU Bank sub-indices were also gaining more than a per cent.
